Musical Genres and Ethnic influences in Brithop

In hip hop, both America and Britain have different genres and ethnic group influences. As British hip hop known as brithop, I discovered that the UK seem to be more diverse in ethnicity than in the US. Going back in time during the 1980s, Professor David Hesmondhalgh stated,

Unlike in the US, it should be noted that the British hip hop scene was cross-racial from the beginning. This is due to the fact that various ethnic groups in Britain tend to not live in segregated areas, even in areas with a high percentage of non-white individuals. These places allow youth to share a cultural interchange with one another including musical genres such as hip hop.⁸
